The newlywed owners of this one bedroom unit had a simple design brief: minimalist design with white walls and tone on tone neutrals. Minimalist doesn’t have to be boring. A variety of textures and materials plays a big part in making this unit a cozy haven. The corner unit is also awash with natural light from its many windows. The play of light and shadow in this simple space also adds a different kind of texture to this home.

Enough storage was necessary to keep clutter at bay in keeping with the minimalist vibe of the space. The bedroom might be compact, yet it provides ample storage and function through the built-in cabinets, under bed drawers, TV console, dresser and storage bench which also functions as a window seat. Conveniently, the storage bench is just the right size that it can be removed and replaced by a crib if necessary later on.

The spacious living area is maximized with multipurpose furniture throughout. A ceiling mounted bar table serves as a partition between kitchen and dining and can also serve as a breakfast nook. What seems to be a buffet cabinet at the entry is actually a shoe cabinet below. A minimalist, full height cabinet serves as supplementary clothes storage. A portion of the TV Console can be pulled out to serve as a desk with hidden storage for laptops and small items usually found cluttering a work area. The 6 seater dining table expands to seat 8 or even 10 with extra seating in the form of stackable stools. Baskets double as a coffee table and even the couch hides ample storage as well.
